Addiction Counselling Online and in Edinburgh
Addiction Counselling in Edinburgh and Online
Room to Change offers face to face sessions in Edinburgh and online throughout the UK.
What I do
I specialise in problematic drug and alcohol use, sex and porn addiction, and compulsive sexual behaviours.
I work with people to change their behaviour or use of substances that are causing problems in their life. Whatever you are experiencing, I will work with you to understand the role of substances or behaviours in your life, and to remove barriers to change. What would your life look like if you were free from the struggle?
I also support people who are affected by another person’s addictive behaviour or use of substances. It might be that you’re currently supporting someone and feel isolated, anxious or helpless. Or, that you’ve been affected by someone else’s behaviour in your childhood, and have a sense of carrying the impact of this with you through your life.
I also work with couples (please contact me to dicuss this).
I trained in Transactional Analysis and combine this with Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to promote self-discovery and healing.
Recovery Room
It’s very common to use something to self-soothe or change the way we feel. For some people it’s substances like drugs and alcohol, for others it could be food, sex, gambling or shopping.
My practice is a safe and confidential space to explore whatever it is you’re going through.
Friends & Family Support Room
Supporting someone with problem substance use or addictive behaviour is not easy. It can affect our own lives and we can feel isolated and withdrawn. Sometimes we need a helping hand too, and this is often the first step to self-care.
I will work with you to understand the process of addiction and recovery, explore your behaviour patterns and set healthy boundaries.
Group Room
Groups are an important part of the recovery process, providing a safe and confidential place for support. Hearing from others can often help us come up with ways of improving a difficult situation or life challenge. Group therapy helps us realise that we are not alone.
Memberships
