Counselling can be hugely beneficial in the treatment of addiction. It can support people to make positive and powerful changes in their lives. I will work with you to better understand your thoughts, feeling and behaviours, manage emotions and identify unhelpful ways of thinking. Sometimes, longer-term psychotherapy work is needed. This can involve exploring your past by looking at how it might be impacting on your life now. Counselling and psychotherapy can help you to get a better understanding of yourself, grow in confidence and heal from past trauma.

Our sessions are confidential, which means that I will not discuss the content outside the room. However, there are two instances that I might have to break confidentiality, which are if I thought that you are at significant harm to yourself or to others. This is the reason that I will ask you for the name of your GP and emergency contact details.
As part of my practice, I’m required to attend supervision with a qualified practitioner. This is to oversee my work and ensure that I work within ethical codes of practice. During my supervision I might discuss a client’s process with my supervisor and this will be anonymised to ensure that clients are not identifiable.
